B: I propose this is the result of:
1) Wide, straight roads,
2) Aggressive traffic enforcement, and most importanly
3) An incredibly high number of people driving while stoned and/or in the country illegally.
Brian: I'm fairly certain that West Virginia exists in a different country and a different century than the rest of us.
That said, it is pretty typical of the Guardian to seek out an inarticulate Appalachian redneck and present his viewpoint as somehow representatively American.
